Description:

Participants in this training will build on the engagement skills learned in the "building trusting relationships" workshop. This training focuses on developing the interviewing skills needed to complete assessments. The interviewing in child welfare approach is a comprehensive, strength, needs, and team based approach. This training will focus on how to interview children and families after a trusting relationship has been developed. The participants will have the opportunity to learn how to use ecomaps, timelines, genograms, and ethnographic interviewing to enhance their ability to interview, gather information, analyze information, and develop family- driven case plans. This training will offer participants the opportunity to learn how to interview families in a culturally competent manner.
