Description:

Class Objectives: 1) To have a working knowledge of how safety concepts and crieria apply to the case planning and case evaluation process. 2) To understand the purpose(s) for the Protective Capacity Family Assessment in relationship to a concept for caregiver change. 3) To have a working knowledge of the protective capacity family assessment structure and process 4) To articulate a rationale for change intervention during the protective capacity family assessment and the case progress evaluation 5) To have the ability to complete a protectivecapacity family assessment including the development of a case plan 6) To have a working knowledge of the case progress evaluaiton and the ability to complete a case progress evaluation.

Presenters:

Matt Gebhardt

Matthew Gebhardt (MA, MSW) is currently the Senior Manager and Trainer for the Milwaukee Child Welfare Partnership for Professional Development located in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He has worked with children and families in the Milwaukee area for the past eleven years. He has been an Ongoing Case Manager with Milwaukee County Youth Services, and more recently an Ongoing Supervisor with the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare, and Clinical Extern with Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin. Matthew holds Graduate Degrees in both Philosophy and Social Work and has been teaching Ethics and Human Service courses for the past ten years. He currently teaches supervisory foundation classes and provides specialized training on such topics as the Indian Child Welfare Act, CST, interviewing, Advanced Ethics, and proper use of car seats.
